It was a privilege – and still is - to be selected as a member of the inaugural Tony Elumelu Entrepreneurship Programme (TEEP 1000) in 2015. The insight and knowledge acquired from the intensive 12 weeks training and mentoring programme has helped position me and BlackBox for the future.

BlackBox is a service-oriented company that has differentiated itself in the courier business. We engage in pick-ups and deliveries of mails, packages or parcels at any location within the Lagos Metropolis. Sounds ordinary? But not how we do it and definitely not with the results we have to show. We also undertake the novel business of professionally verifying the addresses of our clients’ staff, their clients or business partners.

Before entry into the entrepreneurship programme I have had a stint setting up and running my own business successfully but with the tools I received from the 12 –week programme BlackBox has been able to think conceptually and leveraged on her newfound knowledge- and network- base to reach unprecedented heights.

Although, we commenced operations fully late September 2015 with two staff, today BlackBox’s staff strength has grown to seven employees - all within seven months! We have also grown our customer base from serving only Lagos to getting contacts from beyond the state. Most exciting is the fact that our current asset base more than doubled the seed capital that we received from the programme in September.

The next big thing is our plan to unveil BlackBox as a front-running courier company under the technology sector because we believe Information Technology is the future and how else to better operate in the present than with footholds in the future? But this is our secret…
